Join us at the John James Audubon Museum for the annual Friends of Audubon Silver and Gold Event on Wednesday, March 22nd. Our speakers this year are former Audubon Museum curator, Don Boarman, and Michael Aakhus, Dean Emeritus of the College of Liberal Arts at the University of Southern Indiana. They will be discussing the history of the Audubon Museum’s restrike project. In 2002 and 2013, the Audubon Museum partnered with Michael Aakhus, a master printmaker, to make prints (“restrikes”) of John James Audubon’s Tell-tale Godwit and American Bittern from the original engraved copper plates in the museum’s collection. The Friends of Audubon made a limited number of restrikes from the plates available for sale, with the proceeds designated for the conservation of the museum collection and new acquisitions.
