Wildflower Extravaganza | Saturday, April 10th, 9:00 a.m.-2:30 p.m. CT

Head for Audubon Park for the annual Wildflower Extravaganza on April 10, 2021! Join our naturalist for some free leisurely hikes in and around our woods as we try to identify emerging wildflowers. She will share some traditional Native American and early Pioneer uses and folklore about the plants.

This year, the Extravaganza includes a Botany Blitz. Whoever joins in can help with citizen science, as we use the iNaturalist app to document the plant species in the woods. Photos taken and submitted will directly link to a database that contributes to the Kentucky Native Plant Society’s Botany Blitz, for the kick-off of their Wildflower Week.

Walks at Audubon will take place at 9 A.M. and 11 A.M. These are 1/4-mile guided walks, on an easy, accessible trail. Then at 1:00 P.M., we’ll hike further onto the wooded trails, for a moderately difficult 1-mile guided walk that includes a scavenger hunt.

Spaces are limited for each walk, so please register with our naturalist, at lisa.hoffman@ky.gov. Facial masks will be required. Walks may be cancelled for rainy conditions.
