DESCRIPTION:Park Photography Competition \nDeadline: June 30\, 2026 \nSend submissions to Connor.Humphrey@ky.gov \nOn display beginning July 11th \nCost: Free \n  \nFor the second year\, John James Audubon State Park is hosting a photography competition! The guidelines for this competition are: \n\nTwo submissions per photographer\nDigitally submitted photos will be printed on 8.5” X 11” photo paper by the Museum Curator and placed in frames for display.\nPhotos will be judged by the Museum Curator and Park Naturalist. They will be displayed in the Museum Lobby. The public will be allowed to take photos in the exhibit.\nPhotos submitted must have been taken ON PARK PROPERTY between July 1\, 2025\, and June 30\, 2026.\nPhotos are to be emailed to the Curator with a title for the photograph\, and your preference for printing it on either glossy or matte photo paper.\nPhotos must be emailed as an attachment. Copying and pasting images into an email will distort the quality and can affect how they are judged.\n\n  \nSelected winning photographs will be on display in the lobby of the John James Audubon Museum beginning July 11\, 2026\, until the end of 2026. Submissions should be sent to Connor.Humphrey@ky.gov. Submissions will not be accepted after the deadline of June 30th. \nWe look forward to seeing your photos!

DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, Sept. 13 and Sept. 20 \n8-11:30 A.M. \nJohn James Audubon State Park Museum \nCost: $5/person; discounts for FOA members and larger families \nThe Monarch Butterfly captures everyone’s attention! This nearly endangered species completes a two-way migration\, but there’s so much mystery surrounding it! Attend the Monarch Migration Mysteries program: You’ll learn the Monarch’s incredible story in an engaging presentation\, then caravan with us offsite to capture\, tag\, and release these beautiful creatures. Tags and butterfly nets are provided—we’ll show you what to do! Wear long pants and sturdy shoes. (Sloughs WMA tagging site is approx. 25 mins. from the park.) Program begins at the Audubon Museum. Cost: $5/person; discounts for FOA members and larger families; children under age 4 are free. Inclement weather may cancel the program.
