Judge’s Statement
Walter Lay, Juror of Awards:
“First let me say what a challenging experience it was to judge an art show with so many deserving entries. The overall quality of the work submitted was quite accomplished giving testimony to the high quality of art being created in the region. I was pleased to see so much stylistic diversity; ranging from totally non-representational to somewhat abstract and stylized to straightforward realism. As juror, I made selections that I thought are representative of that diversity. Narrowing the selection down to the required number was a challenge. A greater challenge was selecting the recipients for the awards. Again, my criteria at least in part, was to select work that reflected the diversity of the entries. There were many more pieces deserving awards than there were awards to be given. I congratulate the Henderson Society of Art and all of the artists who submitted entries. Keep up the good work!”
