Description
This is a set of five original prints from the first Royal Octavo edition of John James Audubon’s Birds of America, including plate 32 Tengmalm’s Night Owl, plate 153 Painted Lark Bunting, plate 306 Lora Rail, plate 351 Red-breasted Snipe, and plate 450 Great Black-backed Gull.
A private collector donated these prints to the Friends of Audubon. All proceeds benefit fundraising efforts for the Unmatched Art, Unmatched Nature matching grant campaign.

Original first edition measuring 6 1/2 x 9 1/2 inches. Binding holes still evident. Small crease in lower right corner. Accompanied by original text (page 122).
Plate 153 – Painted Lark Bunting
Original first edition measuring 6 1/2 x 9 1/2 inches. Binding holes still evident. Slight cockling down right side of paper.
Plate 306 – Lora Rail
Original first edition measuring 6 1/2 x 9 1/2 inches. Binding holes still evident. Slight cockling across center of paper. Some discoloration.
Plate 351 – Red-breasted Snipe
Original first edition measuring 6 1/2 x 9 1/2 inches. Binding holes still evident. Cockling across paper. Discoloration. Accompanied by original text (pages 11-14).
Plate 450 – Great Black-backed Gull
