Description
This is a set of five original prints from the first Royal Octavo edition of John James Audubon’s Birds of America, including plate 157 Townsend’s Bunting, plate 226 Fish Crow, plate 380 White-fronted Goose, plate 454 Dusky Albatross, and plate 473 Foolish Guillemot Murre.
A private collector donated these prints to the Friends of Audubon. All proceeds benefit fundraising efforts for the Unmatched Art, Unmatched Nature matching grant campaign.

Original first edition measuring 6 1/2 x 9 1/2 inches. Binding holes still evident. Slight buckling along right edge of paper.
Plate 226 – Fish Crow
Original first edition measuring 6 1/2 x 9 1/2 inches. Binding holes still evident. Slight text offsetting visible. Discoloration.
Plate 380 – White-fronted Goose
Original first edition measuring 6 1/2 x 9 1/2 inches. Tissue guard still attached. Slight buckling.
Plate 454 – Dusky Albatross
Original first edition measuring 6 1/2 x 9 1/2 inches. Binding holes still evident. Slight text offsetting visible.
Plate 473 – Foolish Guillemot Murre
Original first edition measuring 6 1/2 x 9 1/2 inches. Binding holes still evident. Slight text offsetting visible.
