Description
This is a set of five original prints from the first Royal Octavo edition of John James Audubon’s Birds of America, including plate 145 Tawny Thrush, plate 157 Townsend’s Bunting, plate 226 Fish Crow, plate 380 White-fronted Goose, and plate 454 Dusky Albatross.
A private collector donated these prints to the Friends of Audubon. All proceeds benefit fundraising efforts for the Unmatched Art, Unmatched Nature matching grant campaign.

Original first edition measuring 6 1/2 x 9 1/2 inches. Binding holes still evident. Slight text offsetting visible. Some discoloration.
Plate 157 – Townsend’s Bunting
Original first edition measuring 6 1/2 x 9 1/2 inches. Binding holes still evident. Slight buckling along right edge of paper.
Plate 226 – Fish Crow
Original first edition measuring 6 1/2 x 9 1/2 inches. Binding holes still evident. Slight text offsetting visible. Discoloration.
Plate 380 – White-fronted Goose
Original first edition measuring 6 1/2 x 9 1/2 inches. Tissue guard still attached. Slight buckling.
Plate 454 – Dusky Albatross
Original first edition measuring 6 1/2 x 9 1/2 inches. Binding holes still evident. Slight text offsetting visible.
