Description

This is a set of five original prints from the first Royal Octavo edition of John James Audubon’s Birds of America, including plate 147 Dwarf Thrush, plate 226 Fish Crow, plate 435 Trudeau’s Tern, plate 467 Curled-crested Phaleris, and plate 494 Missouri Red-moustached Woodpecker.

A private collector donated these prints to the Friends of Audubon. All proceeds benefit fundraising efforts for the Unmatched Art, Unmatched Nature matching grant campaign.

Plate 435 – Trudeau’s Tern
Original first edition measuring 6 1/2 x 9 1/2 inches. Binding holes still evident. Buckling. Crease along bottom edge of paper. Accompanied by original text (pages 105-106).

Plate 467 – Curled-crested Phaleris
Original first edition measuring 6 1/2 x 9 1/2 inches. Binding holes still evident. Foxing.

Plate 494 – Missouri Red-moustached Woodpecker
Original first edition measuring 6 1/2 x 9 1/2 inches. Binding holes still evident. Crease down the center of paper.
