This is a set of five original prints from the first Royal Octavo edition of John James Audubon’s Birds of America, including plate 186 Fox-colored Finch, plate 295 Dusky Grouse, plate 443 Black-headed Gull, plate 486 Sprague’s Missouri Lark, and plate 500 Baird’s Bunting.
A private collector donated these prints to the Friends of Audubon. All proceeds benefit fundraising efforts for the Unmatched Art, Unmatched Nature matching grant campaign.

Original first edition measuring 6 1/2 x 9 1/2 inches. Slight discoloration.
Plate 295 – Dusky Grouse
Original first edition measuring 6 1/2 x 9 1/2 inches. Binding holes still evident. Tears along upper edge and upper right corner, lower right corner.
Plate 443 – Black-headed Gull
Original first edition measuring 6 1/2 x 9 1/2 inches. Binding holes still evident. Slight text offsetting visible.
Plate 486 – Sprague’s Missouri Lark
Original first edition measuring 6 1/2 x 9 1/2 inches. Binding holes still evident. Cockling across middle of paper.
Plate 500 – Baird’s Bunting
Original first edition measuring 6 1/2 x 9 1/2 inches. Binding holes still evident. Cockling along right edge of paper.
