Description

This is a set of five original prints from the first Royal Octavo edition of John James Audubon’s Birds of America, including plate 150 American Pipit or Titlark, plate 199 Common Pine-finch, plate 328 Red-breasted Sandpiper, plate 329 Pectoral Sandpiper, and plate 451 Pomerine Jager.

A private collector donated these prints to the Friends of Audubon. All proceeds benefit fundraising efforts for the Unmatched Art, Unmatched Nature matching grant campaign.

Plate 328 – Red-breasted Sandpiper
Original first edition measuring 6 1/2 x 9 1/2 inches. Binding holes still evident.

Plate 329 – Pectoral Sandpiper
Original first edition measuring 6 1/2 x 9 1/2 inches. Binding holes still evident. Cockling across paper. Foxing. Accompanied by original text (pages 259-260).

Plate 451 – Pomerine Jager
Original first edition measuring 6 1/2 x 9 1/2 inches. Binding holes still evident. Slight text offsetting visible.
